Week 2

The Bowl Making

First Step









Using laser cutting to cut sperate circle pattern(level lines) and a radius measuring tool to help me make the bowl.










Second Step






Cutting the edge of the aluminum panel and sand the rim make it more smoother. 












Third Step 





Using hammer pound the level lines one circle base step by step, until the aluminum panel becoming like a bowl.(Using radius measuring tool to measure the surface every time.)






Fourth Step






Using English wheel to improve the bowl make it become more and more rounded,check with the radius measuring tool each time after using the English wheel.










Final Step 







Check the bowl with r155 and polished the surface.

Reflection

Assignment 3 Reflection  BEIL 0014 Digital  Making It's very important to master the skill of Model making, especially  Industrial  Design students. Model can present your concepts and ideas from imagination to reality, and it will be easier to make people understand your design concept. This is my first-time contact Metal making, in previous four years, I have never thought metal when I try to make a model, I usually use foam, wood, clay, cardboard, etc. Because the course teaches us about these materials and how to use it, so they limited my ways of thinking. After 3 months of Digital Making study, I got lots of knowledge about processing metal, and it's easier than what I thought before. I master another good skill in model making, and it can save lots of time on the shaped simple model. During Assignment 1 by  compare my bowl and Jin's bowl, it shows lost of problems. Fuel Tank Making

Fuel Tank Making 1. Join the group  There are nine people in our group: Zeran Wang (Industrial Design) Tauqir Ullah (Industrial Design) Lornia Shi (Industrial Design) Kelvin Ip (Architecture) Benjamin Le (Industrial Design) Zoey Song (Architecture) Natalia Dou (Interior Architecture) Jin Son (Industrial Design) Jeremy Hizkia (Industrial Design) After group discussion  We decided to do the third fuel tank (by Andrew Wallace), cause several people of our group members have the experience of  3D model making software. The third fuel tank is more convenience than other two fuel tank. 2. Tray Making During this project, I invited my friend to help me to complete this work (Qin yuan Zhen from Civil Engineering ) Introduction Partner Preparation Sanding the wood panel Cutting the edge Fixed aluminum panel on the table                               Fixed the model and use hammer hit the edges the use scissors cut the extra parts Improve four sides make they more flat Sanding the edges make it become more perfect
